Banners come in more shapes than any other image: wide strips on X and Twitch, 16:9 on YouTube and Discord servers, tall panels on Twitch. The table above compares every banner ImgWrench makes, with the size to upload, the formats each platform accepts and its file limit.

One image, many shapes

Start from a wide, high-resolution image, at least 2560 pixels across, and crop each platform's shape from it. Keep your name, logo and any text near the middle: every platform trims the edges somewhere, and the middle is the one part they all show.

File limits

Limits range from 1MB for a Twitch panel to 10MB for a Twitch or Discord profile banner. Photos saved as PNG can go over quickly; JPG is usually far smaller for banners without transparency.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a banner for different platforms?

Open the row for each platform in the table above and drop your banner in. Every page crops it to that platform's shape, resizes it to the exact size and checks the file limit. Because banner shapes differ so much, from 1500×500 on X to 16:9 on YouTube, it's best to crop each one separately rather than stretch one image.

What is the most common banner size?

There isn't one: banner shapes differ by platform. X uses 1500×500 (3:1), Twitch 1200×480, Discord 680×240 for profiles and 16:9 for servers, and YouTube 2560×1440. Start from a wide image of at least 2560 pixels across and crop each platform's shape from it, keeping text near the middle.

What size is a YouTube banner?

2560×1440 recommended, at least 2048×1152, up to 6MB. The YouTube banner resizer makes it and shows the safe area for text and logos.

What size is a Twitch banner?

1200×480 pixels, as PNG, JPG or GIF up to 10MB, according to Twitch's help. The Twitch banner resizer makes it from any image.

Why does my banner get cut off?

Banners are shown at different sizes on phones, tablets and desktops, and some platforms trim the edges to fit. YouTube publishes a safe area for text and logos, and X says up to 60 pixels at the top and bottom of a header may be cropped. The banner safe area tool shows those published zones over your image.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Every ImgWrench tool runs entirely in your browser, so your images are resized on your own device and never sent to a server. Nothing is stored or shared. You can check this yourself: open your browser's network tab while you resize and download, and you'll see no image data leave the page.
