ImgWrench's PNG to JPG converter turns PNG images into JPG files at exactly the same width and height. You choose the quality, and the colour that fills any transparent areas, since JPG has no transparency.

How to convert PNG to JPG

  1. Drop up to 20 PNG files into the tool above.
  2. Set the quality: 90 suits most images, and 70 to 80 is still fine for photos on the web.
  3. If your PNGs are transparent, pick the background colour.
  4. Download each JPG, or all of them as a ZIP.

When to use JPG instead of PNG

JPG is made for photos. It compresses them far more than PNG does, which makes pages load faster and keeps files under upload limits. PNG is better for logos, icons, screenshots and anything with sharp edges or transparency, because it stores every pixel exactly.

Transparency and background colour

JPG can't store transparent pixels, so the converter fills them with a solid colour. White is the default. Pick the colour of the page or card the image will sit on, and the edges blend in. To keep transparency and still get a small file, choose WebP instead.

Animated images

GIF, APNG and animated WebP files convert to their first frame only, because JPG holds a single picture. The tool marks those files, so nothing is lost without you knowing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Drop one or more PNG files into the tool above and JPG is already selected. Each image is converted at its original width and height, with quality 90 by default. Move the Quality slider to trade size for detail, then download each JPG, or all of them as a ZIP. The sizes before and after are shown next to every file.

What happens to a transparent PNG when I convert it to JPG?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas have to be filled with a solid colour. The tool uses white by default, and you can pick any other colour with the background picker, for example to match the page the image will sit on. To keep the transparency, stay with PNG or convert to WebP instead, which supports it.

Does converting PNG to JPEG lose quality?

A little. JPEG is a lossy format: it saves space by discarding detail the eye barely notices. At the default quality of 90, photos look the same as the PNG. Sharp text, line art and flat logos can show faint smudges around edges, so keep those as PNG, or raise the quality slider to 100 for the cleanest result.

Why is my JPG smaller than the PNG?

PNG stores every pixel exactly, which takes a lot of space for photos, while JPG compresses them far more. A photo saved as PNG often shrinks to a fraction of its size as JPG. Flat graphics with few colours are the exception: they can come out bigger as JPG, and the tool shows the result so you can see which is smaller.

Can I convert several PNG files to JPG at once?

Yes. Drop up to 20 PNG files at once and each one becomes its own JPG with the quality and background colour you picked. Change a setting and every file is converted again. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP. Files keep their names, so holiday.png becomes holiday.jpg.

How do I make the JPG even smaller?

Lower the Quality slider first: around 70 to 80 is still fine for most photos on the web. If a site has a strict limit, such as a maximum number of KB, run the JPG through the image compressor and choose Target size. It finds the best quality that fits under your limit without changing the image's dimensions.

Are my PNG files uploaded anywhere?

No. PNG to JPG runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device and are never sent to a server. Reading, converting and zipping all happen locally on your computer or phone. You can check this yourself: open your browser's network tab while you convert, and you'll see that no image data is sent anywhere.
