ImgWrench is a free emote resizer for Twitch: drop in one image or animated GIF and get the 112, 56 and 28 pixel emotes, sub badges and channel points icons Twitch asks for — checked against Twitch's file limits, with a Discord-sized copy if you want one. Need the full rules first? Read the Twitch emote size guide.

How to resize a Twitch emote

  1. Drop your image or animated GIF into the tool above. You can add several at once.
  2. Pick the outputs you need: emotes, sub badges, channel points icons, or a matching Discord emoji.
  3. If the image isn't square, choose Contain, Cover or Crop.
  4. Check the chat preview, then download single files or everything as a ZIP.

Uploading to Twitch

Open your Creator Dashboard and find the emotes section under Viewer Rewards. Upload each size into its matching slot. Exact menu names change from time to time, so follow Twitch's own help pages if the layout looks different.

Design tips

  • Start big. Begin with a square image of at least 112×112, ideally larger, so the downscale has detail to work with.
  • Think small. Most viewers see emotes at 28px. Bold shapes, thick outlines and high contrast survive; fine text does not.
  • Use transparency. A transparent background looks right on both light and dark chat themes. Check both in the preview.
  • Keep animations short. Short loops with few frames stay small and read clearly in a busy chat.

Why ImgWrench

  • Private by design. Your art never leaves your device.
  • Every size at once. One image in, every Twitch size out, named and zipped.
  • Crisp at small sizes. Step-down scaling and light sharpening keep 28px emotes clean.
  • GIF support. Animated emotes keep their frame timing.

Frequently asked questions

What size are Twitch emotes?

Twitch emotes come in three square sizes: 112×112, 56×56 and 28×28 pixels. This tool exports all three from a single image.

Can I make animated Twitch emotes?

Yes. Drop in an animated GIF and ImgWrench resizes every frame and keeps the original frame timing, so the animation plays at the same speed.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Your images are never sent to a server, and you can confirm this in your browser's network tab.

My image isn't square. What happens?

Choose Contain to fit the whole image with transparent padding, Cover to fill the square and trim the edges, or Crop to pick the exact area yourself.

Why does my emote look blurry at 28px?

Small sizes lose detail. ImgWrench scales down in steps and applies light sharpening at 64px and below. Bold shapes and thick outlines also read better at small sizes.
