ImgWrench is a free Discord profile picture resizer: drop in a photo or GIF, crop it square, and download a sharp 512×512 avatar. Discord doesn't publish an exact avatar size, so we chose one that stays crisp wherever your avatar appears.
How to make a Discord profile picture
- Drop your image or animated GIF into the tool above.
- If it isn't square, choose Cover to fill the frame or Crop to pick the area yourself.
- Check the preview, keeping in mind that Discord shows avatars in a circle.
- Download your avatar.
Uploading to Discord
On desktop, open User Settings with the cogwheel at the bottom left, go to Profiles and press Change Avatar. On mobile, tap your avatar, then Edit Profile. Animated GIF avatars need Nitro.
Design tips
- Centre the subject. The circle hides the corners, so anything near the edges gets cut.
- Go bold. Avatars are often shown small next to messages; strong shapes and contrast stay recognisable.
- Keep GIFs simple. A short loop reads better at small sizes than a busy one.
Why ImgWrench
- Private by design. Your photo never leaves your device.
- Square, sharp, done. Crop once and get a 512×512 avatar.
- GIF support. Animated avatars keep their frame timing.
