ImgWrench is a free Discord emoji resizer: drop in an image or animated GIF and get a 128×128 emoji under Discord's 256KB limit, previewed in a mock chat at real size — plus a matching set of Twitch emote sizes if you stream too.
How to make a Discord emoji
- Drop your image or animated GIF into the tool above. You can add several at once.
- If it isn't square, choose Contain, Cover or Crop.
- Check the size badge on each file and the chat preview in light and dark.
- Download the emoji on its own, or everything as a ZIP.
Uploading to Discord
Open Server Settings from the menu next to your server's name, then select the Emoji tab and upload. You need to be the server owner or have the Create Expressions permission. Every server has 50 static emoji slots; servers with Nitro or Nitro Basic get 50 more for animated emojis.
Design tips
- Design for 32 pixels. That's how big emojis appear in chat. Bold shapes and thick outlines read; fine detail and small text don't.
- Fill the frame. Trim empty space around your subject so it doesn't look tiny next to standard emojis.
- Use transparency. A transparent background sits cleanly on both the light and dark themes. Check both in the preview.
- Keep GIFs short. Fewer frames and colours keep animated emojis under 256KB.
Why ImgWrench
- Private by design. Your art never leaves your device.
- Checked against the limit. Every file shows its size, and over-limit files can be compressed in one click.
- Animations stay smooth. GIFs keep their frame timing.
- One upload, two platforms. Get the Twitch emote sizes from the same image.
