ImgWrench is a free Instagram profile picture resizer: drop in a photo or logo, crop it square, and download a sharp 1080×1080 picture. Instagram doesn't publish a profile picture size, so we use 1080, the widest it keeps any photo.
How to make an Instagram profile picture
- Drop your image into the tool above.
- If it isn't square, choose Cover to fill the frame or Crop to pick the area yourself.
- Check the preview, keeping in mind that Instagram shows profile pictures in a circle.
- Download your profile picture.
Uploading to Instagram
In the app, go to your profile, tap Edit profile and choose to change your picture, then pick the image from your phone. On the web, click your current picture on your profile and choose Upload photo. If your Instagram and Facebook accounts are linked in Accounts Center, you can sync the picture across both.
Design tips
- Centre the subject. The circle hides the corners, so anything near the edges gets cut.
- Go bold. Your picture shows up small next to posts, stories and comments; strong shapes and contrast stay recognisable.
- Use the same picture everywhere. A matching picture across platforms makes you easy to find.
Why ImgWrench
- Square, sharp, done. Crop once and get a 1080×1080 picture.
- One upload, two platforms. Add a matching Discord avatar if you want one.
- Private by design. Your photo never leaves your device.
