How do I convert WebP to PNG?+
Drop one or more WebP files into the tool above and PNG is already selected. Each image is saved as a PNG at the same width and height, with any transparency kept. Download each PNG, or all of them as a ZIP. The PNG opens in every image viewer, editor and upload form, including ones that don't accept WebP.
Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?+
Yes. PNG supports transparency just like WebP does, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they were, including soft edges and shadows. That makes PNG the right target for WebP logos, stickers and icons. Choose JPG instead only when you need a smaller file and don't mind a solid background.
Can I convert an animated WebP to PNG?+
Only its first frame. A PNG from this tool holds a single picture, so an animated WebP becomes a still image, and the tool marks the file so you know. To keep the movement for Discord, the GIF to Discord sticker page makes animated PNG stickers from GIFs.
How do I convert WebP to JPG instead?+
Click JPG next to Convert to, above the file list, and every file is converted again as a JPG. You can then set the quality and the colour that fills transparent areas, since JPG can't store transparency. JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG, which is better for photos you want to share or upload.
Why is the PNG bigger than my WebP?+
WebP is a highly compressed format, usually lossy, while PNG stores every pixel exactly. Converting can't make the picture better, but it does make the file bigger, often by several times for photos. If the size matters, choose JPG in the tool, or run the PNG through the image compressor afterwards.
Can I convert many WebP files to PNG at once?+
Yes. Drop up to 20 WebP files at once and each one becomes its own PNG. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP. File names stay the same apart from the extension, so banner.webp becomes banner.png, and files with matching names get -2 added so nothing is overwritten.
Are my WebP files uploaded anywhere?+
No. WebP to PNG runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device and are never sent to a server. Reading, converting and zipping all happen locally on your computer or phone. You can check this yourself: open your browser's network tab while you convert, and you'll see that no image data is sent anywhere.
