ImgWrench converts a GIF into a Discord sticker. Discord only takes PNG and APNG for stickers, so your GIF becomes a 320×320 animated PNG with every frame's timing kept, then is compressed if needed to fit Discord's 512KB limit.
How to turn a GIF into a Discord sticker
- Drop your GIF into the tool above. You can add several at once.
- If it isn't square, choose Contain, Cover or Crop.
- Check the size badge on each sticker.
- Download the .png sticker, or several as a ZIP, and upload it in Server Settings > Stickers.
GIF vs APNG
GIF is limited to 256 colours and to pixels that are either fully see-through or fully solid, which is why GIF edges often look jagged. APNG keeps full colour and soft, partly transparent edges, which is why Discord uses it for animated stickers. Converting doesn't add detail the GIF never had, but transparent areas carry over cleanly.
Uploading the sticker
Custom stickers come with Server Boosting. Once your server is boosted, owners and admins can upload them under Server Settings > Stickers on desktop. Discord also asks for a matching emoji and lets you add a description for screen readers.
Why ImgWrench
- The right format. GIF in, animated PNG out, at exactly 320×320.
- Fits the limit. Over-512KB stickers are compressed automatically.
- Private by design. Your GIFs never leave your device.
