ImgWrench's Google Play screenshot resizer turns your screenshots into 9:16 portrait and 16:9 landscape images at the sizes Google Play asks for to show them in its promotional formats, saved as 24-bit PNGs with no alpha.

How to resize Google Play screenshots

  1. Drop up to 20 screenshots into the tool above.
  2. Keep Portrait ticked, or add Landscape, Wear OS or Android XR.
  3. Choose Contain, Cover or Crop for screenshots of another shape.
  4. Download the ZIP and upload the screenshots in your Play Console store listing.

Google Play's screenshot rules

The Play Console Help asks for JPEG or 24-bit PNG screenshots with no alpha, from 320 to 3840 pixels per side, with the long side no more than twice the short side, and up to 8 per device type. To be eligible for promotional formats, apps need at least four screenshots in 16:9 landscape (at least 1920×1080) or 9:16 portrait (at least 1080×1920).

Which sizes the tool makes

  • Portrait: 1080×1920, 9:16, for phones, tablets and Chromebooks.
  • Landscape: 1920×1080, 16:9.
  • Wear OS: 384×384, the 1:1 minimum, with no transparent background.
  • Android XR: 3840×2400, the recommended 8:5 size, checked against 8 MB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize screenshots for Google Play?

Drop up to 20 screenshots into the tool above. Portrait at 1080×1920 is ticked; tick Landscape for 1920×1080, or Wear OS and Android XR if you build for them. Choose Contain, Cover or Crop for images of another shape, then download everything as a ZIP and upload it in your Play Console store listing.

What size are Google Play Store screenshots?

Any JPEG or 24-bit PNG from 320 to 3840 pixels per side, with the long side at most twice the short side. To be eligible for Google Play's promotional formats, apps need at least four screenshots of 9:16 portrait (at least 1080×1920) or 16:9 landscape (at least 1920×1080), which is what this tool makes.

Why does Play Console reject my screenshot?

Check it against Google's rules: JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha, every side from 320 to 3840 pixels, and the long side no more than twice the short side. Most apps save PNGs with an alpha channel, which makes them 32-bit. This tool saves 24-bit PNGs at sizes that meet every one of those rules.

What size should tablet screenshots be?

Google asks for tablet and Chromebook screenshots between 1,080 and 7,680 pixels, in 16:9 for landscape or 9:16 for portrait, with at least 4 of them. The Portrait and Landscape outputs here, 1080×1920 and 1920×1080, meet that too, so the same files work for phones, tablets and Chromebooks.

How many screenshots can I add to Google Play?

Up to 8 per device type, and at least two across your device types to publish. For promotional formats, provide at least four 9:16 or 16:9 screenshots; games need at least three. To prepare a large batch at once, the bulk image processor takes up to 100 images.

Can I make App Store screenshots from the same images?

Yes, but Apple wants exact device sizes rather than an aspect ratio, such as 1206×2622 for iPhone. The App Store screenshot resizer makes those sizes from the same screenshots, also without an alpha channel, so you can prepare both stores from one set of captures.

Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser: ImgWrench resizes your screenshots on your own device, and they are never sent to a server or stored anywhere else. You can confirm this yourself by opening your browser's network tab while you use the tool and checking that no request carries your image data.
